NCAA Tournament
by  Nathan Noy
March 13, 2004

Itís time for our annual break from fantasy baseball draft preparations aka The NCAA Tourney. Below you will find my picks for this yearís big dance. Before the e-mails start flying in be sure to recall last year and ask yourself ďhow many people outside of upstate NY had Melo and the boys winning it all?Ē Nobody I knew.

Remember that there is NO chance that all four #1ís make the final-4, in fact there is almost no chance the final-4 will be made up of ALL 1ís, 2ís or even 3ís for that matter. So if you see another ďexpertísĒ selections, be sure to ask yourself how likely they truly are to occur. Good luck, be sure to pick at least on dark horse, and enjoy.

PS if you are looking for a pool contact me at natenoy@hotmail.com, Iím in one with Will Lingo and the staff at Baseball America, the more the merrier.

My final-4 are UK, OK St., Cincinnati (yes I think they will knock out the Dukies) and Stanford. I like the Wildcats over Stanford in the finals.

Round 1

UK: what a reward for the play-in winner, a likely 40-50 point hammering by UK.

UAB: the public is in love with Washington, but UAB is a solid squad that has played well down the stretch and did not get as extended at Washington did in the last week.

Providence: Should cruise by 10 or more.

Kansas: Donít go looking for your #13 upset here.

Utah:
BC is over-rated and Utah has to win at least one for the ailing former coach.

Ga Tech: A legitimate final-8 team.

Michigan State: Has turned it up in the last month and is ready to advance.

Gonzaga: With put a quick end to Drewís return.

Round 2

UK: Neither Washington nor UAB has a prayer against the best team in the country.

Kansas: A very even match-up with Providence, but last yearís final-4 experience will pull them through.

Ga Tech: Probably the 2nd best team in the nationís best conference, will be way too much for either Utah or BC.

Michigan State: Face it, Gonzaga is a fraud. They will exit quickly, possibly as early as round 2.

Round 3

UK: Who will stop them? Not Kansas.

Ga Tech: Whether itís MSU or Gonzaga; Ga Tech will be too much.

Final 4 team

UK: Ga Tech will give the Cats their first challenge of the tourney, but Tubby will cut down the nets and make the trip to Texas.

Note there is definite logic behind the rest of these picks, and I will clue you all in later in the week. However, for the sake of getting this posted ASAP I am just listing winners for the other three regions for now.
